Impressive large gilt patinated bronze sculpture on double marble base depicting guard canine by Thomas Cartier ( Marseille, 21/02/1879-1943) French School student of Georges Gardet. He was a sculptor and animalier portraying hunting dogs, large cats, humans with animals and many others. He was active  in presenting his artworks at the Paris Salon in 1904 and onwards, awarded a Gold Medal in 1927.  This piece is with rich gilt patina and having a visible signature on the base "Cartier" Made in France circa 1920's. In very good condition with traces of wear, few chips to marble, minor verdigris in places and other details consistent to age. Kindly refer to the images as integral part of the description. A classic piece of artwork that will make a statement to charming interior!
