Impressive antique gilt bronze inkwell and nib holder. Fine crafted inkstand features a seated drumming cherub with stick in both hands, inkwell and nib holder in the form of timpani adorned with drapes on both sides. It has acorn and garland accents and fine chiseled details raised on four claw feet. Underneath a visible initial letters "CH RS" associated with Henri Picard, a well-known French founder and gilder producing high quality decorative objects  (ref. https://www.antiquesvanelsen.com/new-arrivals/antique-french-gilt-bronze-fireplace-fender). In very good condition with minor traces of wear and other details consistent to age and artisan craftsmanship.
