Gorgeous large patinated terracotta sculpture depicting hunt canine by Thomas Cartier ( Marseille, 21/02/1879-1943) French School student of Georges Gardet. He was a sculptor and animalier portraying hunting dogs, large cats, humans with animals and many others. He was active  in presenting his artworks at the Paris Salon in 1904 and onwards, awarded a Gold Medal in 1927.  This piece is with rich, gilt patina and having a visible signature on the base and side seal/inscription Ceramique d'Art I-A 240. In very good condition with traces of wear and some details consistent to age, no cracks and no restorations. A classic piece of artwork that will make a statement to charming interior!
