"Cargo in de Haven van Brugge" (Cargo in the Port of Bruges) an important early artwork oil on panel by Charles Verbrugghe (Bruges, Belgium 1877 - 1974 Paris, France) signed lower left corner dated on the back 1894. A visible stamped mark as this art piece was once exhibited at the famous Galerie d'Art Roussard, rue du Mont Cenis (Montmartre) Paris. It has an original sticker of Brugsche Galerie by Kunstzaal Garnier as one of the exhibited artwork for the Retrospective 1968 Art Exposition held in Bruges, Belgium. It was then part of the art collection of a close family member Roger Verbrugge also a Belgian painter, Brugse school. 

Charles Verbrugge a famous Belgian painter who was part of the Bruges School. He studied at the Art Academy in Bruges, Belgium and moved to Paris, France in 1907 to further develop his art skills and settled there permanently. He was a regular visitor of Au Lapin Agile in Montmartre with close encounters to famous french artists and became friends with French Maurice Utrillo and Dutch leading fauves Kees Van Dongen. Regardless to the artist's environment, Verbrugghe kept the true essence of a Flemish painter and remained loyal to impressionism. His main themes includes portraits, still lifes, cityscapes, landscapes and seascapes. He was featured in several Belgian Artwork literatures: Lexicon of West Flemish Visual Artist (Lexicon van Westvlaamse Beeldende Kunstenaars, 1992), The Bruges School (De Brugse School, 1990), Charles Verbrugghe, Brugge 1968 by Willy Van den Bussche and so much more.

This artwork will be delivered in a gilt wood custom made frame, handmade in Belgium.  In very good condition with minor traces of age and wear.
